Skiathos

A small Greek island on the Aegean Sea belonging to the Northern Sporades archipelago, Skiathos is extremely well-known for its 27 mile coastline with more than 60 beaches, among which Koukounaries is supposed to be one of the most beautiful in all Europe.

This lush island, rich in woods, is particularly appreciated for its golden sandy shores, crystal waters and the pines and olive trees vegetation framing the bays.
Most of the beaches are located in the south-western area of the island, while some of the particularly stunning shores, like Lalaria and Mandraki, are situated on the northern coast. Koukounaries, real emerald water paradise, is indeed magnificent and ranks as the second in Europe for iodine content: glittering crystals can be seen on the sand and in the water. In the background, a large pine forest.

Skiathos, main city of the same island, dives into a breathtaking bay. Tiny alleys heaving with restaurants and venues, antiques and craft ateliers make it a perfect destination to chill out after a day out at the sea.

A peculiarity: the island’s airport is popular among aerial photographers. While landing, planes fly over the beach at very low altitude just before touching down.
