Capital of Moldavia situated along the Bìc river, it is one of the greenest cities in Europe and represents a focal centre for the industry of the country.

The city is subdivided into 5 districts: Centru, Botanica, Riscani, Ciocana, Buiucani.
In the Botanica district it is possible to admire the wonderful Botanical Garden (1950): over 10.000 square metres, hosting hundreds of varieties of flowers and plants.
In the Riscani district the protagonist is the State Circus, with a capacity of over 1900 people.
In the Buicani district, the park ‘Valea Morilor’ is also worth seeing in the Buiucani district, the largest green patch in town.

Among the most notable monuments: the orthodox Cathedral of St. Theodora, in Neo-byzantine style, the Monument to the Fighters and Liberators, the Statue of Stefan Cel Mare.

Among the museums worth seeing is the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History showing zoology, botanics and geology works.

Chisinau’s main industries include consumers’ goods and electrical appliances, building materials, machinery, rubber and textiles.
