Is the Airport open?
The Passenger Terminal is currently open every day, 24 hours a day.
The terminal door that always remains open is that of the Main Entrance, the main entrance located on the ground floor.

Why was the airport always open during the Covid emergency?
Our airport has always been open on a scaled-down basis as we have been assisting with the return of Italian citizens home and allowing those compelled to travel to be able to do so. During the whole emergency and the various lockdown phases that followed, ambulance, transplant and medical supplies transport on cargo flights were always guaranteed. Equipment, vaccines and supplies of sanitary materials arrived in Bologna to help fight the impact of the global pandemic.

What social distancing and precautionary measures are in place at Bologna Airport during the Covid emergency?
The measures Italian authorities have put in place during the Covid emergency included enhanced monitoring procedures for flights, body temperature checks with the latest generation thermal scanners located at the entrances to the passenger terminal, at the security checkpoints and in the arrivals area and with laser thermometres, the presence of additional airport officials, the intensive airport areas sanitation, the installation of disinfectant hand gel dispensers along the entire passenger route and in all areas dedicated to airport staff. In detail, the following were installed:
- 2,250 ground stickers to facilitate spacing;
- 950 do-no-sit signs on seats;
- 10 latest generation thermal scanners placed at the entrances to the passenger terminal, at security checkpoints and in the arrivals area;
- 93 plexiglas barriers at check-in desks and boarding gates;
- 100 hand sanitising gel dispensers throughout the passengers' route and in areas dedicated to airport staff.
Moreover, intensive sanitation of all areas is in place for which an innovative method with molecular fragmentation has been adopted.
Last but not least, we have implemented signage and voice announcements, social network and website information content is available to remind passengers about social distancing and good practices like frequent handwashing.
Airport personnel is always present at the terminal to provide information and respond to all requests, thanks to our continuously staffed information point.
Bologna Airport is working to ensure that passengers can reach their destination as quickly and safely as possible, and at the same time aims at guaranteeing all airport staff to operate safely.
In collaboration with health authorities, the airport constantly complies with all government guidelines to protect passengers and airport staff.

Is the use of face masks mandatory?
No, the use of the face mask inside the passenger terminal is no longer mandatory, but is strongly recommended.
We strongly advise passengers to follow the indications of the Italian Government on the website and the instructions of the Airline they are travelling with.
Please be mindful that you may be asked to remove it when going through security checks.

I am accompanying a passenger or picking someone up: am I allowed to enter the passenger terminal?
Yes, the entrance to the passenger terminal is also allowed for meeters and greeters of departing passengers, but the access will be suspended in case of overcrowding inside the terminal. Instead, meeters and greeters of arriving passengers can remain outside the terminal where special waiting areas have been set up.

What are the airport's opening times?

Bologna Airport is open in accordance with the provisions of the authorities, in order to guarantee an essential public service, which is to ensure that those who absolutely must travel can do so, on scheduled flights, ambulance flights or military flights and for the transport of goods on cargo flights. Medical equipment supplies, including vaccines, have been arriving in Bologna to help combat the impact of the global pandemic.
We have been working closely with health authorities and Airline Partners to ensure that this is done safely.

I have lost my personal ID at the airport, what should I do?
Report to the Customs Police offices on the first floor of the Terminal, next to the security checkpoints. -

Parking

Can disable passengers ask for assistance at the Parking Control Office?
Yes, by supplying the surname of the PRM and their flight destination. In addition, they have to inform the PRM staff if they have already requested the assistance with the airline.

Are there any discounts/commercial agreements for those parking at the airport?
Yes, there are several ongoing commercial agreements.

I have lost my parking ticket, what should I do?
You should report to the Parking Control office, at the ground floor of the P2 Business, showing your ID, vehicle registration document, departure tickets and any booking.

Are the parking lots checked and equipped with CCTV systems?
Yes, they are.
Airline ticketing

Can I buy plane tickets over the phone?
Yes, the service allows you to buy plane tickets, ask for refunds and/or cancellations through a dedicated assistance by the call centre staff.

Where are ticketing offices at the airport and what are their opening times?
On the ground floor, near the check-in area. Most Airlines are assisted by the two companies Alisud and Are. The rest of the Airlines have their own counter.

Where do you pay for the extra baggage?
You can pay for the extra baggage fare directly at the airline ticketing offices, located on the ground floor.

How can I buy a plane ticket on Bologna Airport website?
Plane tickets are issued immediately while booking if purchased by Visa or Mastercard credit card with an additional security pin (Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode), or within 48 hours from the booking, if bought by a different credit card.

What happens if I do not receive the plane ticket bought on Bologna Airport website
In extremely exceptional cases beyond the will and control of AdB, it may not be possible to issue within 48 hours the plane tickets for confirmed bookings with the label "open status", as well as the other cases where, prior communication to the Client, further checks on the received booking are necessary.
AdB reserves the right to check the personal data and credit card holder's name, requiring a copy of the ID, passport and credit card.In such cases AdB shall have to promptly inform the Client and provide for, whenever possible, the issuing of an equivalent plane ticket to the one requested, or else agree with the Client on an alternative solution.
Lost&Found

My baggage has been damaged, who do I contact?
Anything that happens to baggage is the responsibility of the airline. Always keep your tickets and vouchers for your baggage. Passengers are responsible for checking the state of their suitcases delivered to them. If, on your arrival, you notice your baggage has been damaged:
- Do not leave the baggage claim hall;
- go to the Lost&Found Office in the baggage claim hall;
- file a damaged baggage report, with which you can request compensation from the airline, if applicable;
- if you need to know the status of your damaged baggage report, contact your airline.
If you leave the baggage claim area, you can no longer file a damaged baggage report.
In this case, contact your airline directly to check whether you can file a damaged baggage report belatedly.
The airline is not responsible for minor damage such as cuts, scratches, breakages and/or small dents to the hinges, locks, wheels, handles, stud feet, straps, etc.

I have to collect my lost baggage at the airport, what do I need to do?
If your baggage has arrived in Bologna and you've been contacted by the Lost&Found Office, you can come to pick it up.
If you are the owner/nominee of the baggage, go to the Lost&Found in the arrivals area.
Remember to bring the following with you:
- The Property Irregularity Report (PIR) that was issued to you when the lost baggage report was made;
- the keys and/or combination of your baggage;
- an identity document.
If, you have been authorised by someone to collect the baggage, remember to bring the following with you:
- The customs declaration of the baggage owner;
- the authorisation of the baggage owner;
- a photocopy of the owner's identity document;
- one of your own currently valid identity documents.

I've lost my baggage, what should I do?
Anything that happens to checked-in baggage is the responsibility of the airline.
Always keep your tickets and vouchers for your baggage.If your baggage is not delivered to you on your arrival:
- Do not leave the baggage claim hall;
- go to the Lost&Found Office in the baggage claim hall;
- file a lost baggage report;
- you will be issued with the PIR (Property Irregularity Report) form with the contacts for tracking your case;
- you can track the status of your baggage on the World Tracer site;
- you will be contacted by the lost&found office when your baggage arrives or by the courier for home delivery if applicable;
- if, after 5 days, your baggage has not been found, contact your airline directly.
If you did not file a lost baggage report before leaving the arrivals area, contact your airline directly to check whether you can do so belatedly.

Courier designated for delivery
The courier responsible for the home delivery of baggage is a sub-concessionaire of the airline. Yes, medication (including in liquid form) or products related to medical use are allowed (without the need for a prescription). -
Can I carry food in my hand luggage?
For any liquid foods in cream or gel form (i.e. pesto, béchamel, preserves, spreads, etc.), please refer the dedicated page for the restrictions on liquids. There may be active restrictions on the transport of solid foods in the country of arrival.

Passengers with reduced mobility assistance

How can I request for a special assistance?
In order to get a service adequate for your needs, as well as a prompt one, the request for the assistance must be forwarded to the Airline already while booking or anyway within 48 hours from the departure time.
It will be the Airline's duty to inform the concerned airport.

I haven't booked my assistance because I only need it at the airport, whom should I ask?
You need to get at the airport in due advance according to the Airline's indications and inform about your arrival through one of the Contact points (even in case of web check-in).

What are car rentals times?
Car rentals have offices in the terminal which are usually open from 8.00 until 23.00.

Where can I leave my car keys if the car rental office is closed?
The offices are equipped with key drop-off counters even at closing times. Some Airlines are even equipped with key drop-off boxes in the parkings.

Is there currency exchange at the airport?
Yes, the service is provided by Forexchange (Arrivals and Departures).

Forexchange Arrivals: Mon – Sun 9/22 (at the Arrivals- ground floor);
Forexchange Departures: Mon– Sun 8.30/17 (departures area - first floor in front of security checkpoints).

How much money can one carry abroad?
The import and/or export of currency and other transferable securities and assets is free up to the total amount of €10,000. For higher sums it is necessary to fill in a form and hand it at the customs while entering or leaving the country. Failing to do so will result in an offense of the currency regulations.
