  • LIQUIDS UP TO 2 LITERS ALLOWED IN CARRY-ON LUGGAGE FOR PASSENGERS DEPARTING FROM MARCONI AIRPORT

Starting today, July 28, in compliance with the new ECAC (European Civil Aviation Authority) regulations and with the green light from ENAC, thanks to the new "EDS C3" X-ray machines installed at Bologna Airport for several months, all passengers departing from Marconi Airport are permitted to carry liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) in containers of up to 2 liters per container, leaving them in their carry-on luggage. This eliminates the previous limit of 100 ml per container, for a maximum of 10 containers in transparent plastic bags that must be presented separately.

Bologna Airport is one of five airports in Italy that allow the application of the new regulation. For all other airports, the 100 ml per container limit remains in place.

Edinburgh

The city, dominated by the terrific Edinburgh castle, houses one of the best preserved historical centres in Europe.
Among volcanic hills on which the Scottish city dwells, it is possible to admire the contrasts between the Old town, the Medieval part, and the New town, the Georgian part of the city.

The castle, as it appears today, is the result of overlappings and enlargements occurred in different historical periods. The most ancient part (1100) is St. Margaret’s Chapel. It is followed by the Great Hall, commissioned by James IV (1510), while the half Moon Battery (end of 1500) is owed to Regent Morton. Finally, the Scottish National War Memorial dates back to the end of World War II.
The halls containing the Scottish Crown jewellery are unmissable.

Remarkable is the contrast between the Old town, with steep, winding little streets and tall houses, and the New town, rich in airy squares and elegant Georgian palaces.
In the Old town, head for the Gothic Saint Giles dated 1120, or participate in an underground Edinburgh tour for a trip back in time.
