Wonderful capital city of the Russian federation, Moscow is a city of contrasts and records, where ancient buildings cohabit with Soviet structures and important museums flank suburbs’ nightclubs.
A visit to Moscow should start from the Red square and the Kremlin, in 1990 inscribed into the Unesco World Heritage.
On the Red square you cannot miss a visit to the St. Basil’s cathedral (1556), built by the tsar Ivan IV the Terrible. Still on the same square is the Kremlin, a little fortified town also headquartering the governmental institutions. Built in stages from the Middle Ages, it has been open to the public since 1955.
Again, the same square also houses Lenin’s Mausoleum, recommended, too.
From a cultural point of view, Moscow is one of the most relevant centres with over 60 theatres, 100 museums and over 4000 libraries. Just think of Bolshoi Theatre, one of the most exclusive ballet temples of all times.
Even the underground in Moscow is a piece of art. Its stations look like interiors of wonderful palaces.
