Nuremberg

Full of life, with a vibrant and varied history and a wide range of culinary delights: This is Nuremberg, the heart of Franconia – loved by cultural enthusiasts and gourmets from all over the world.

Nuremberg offers a wonderful Old Town with a medieval flair, in which you can easily find everything your heart desires: plenty of shopping, cozy bratwurst kitchens, restaurants, trendy cafés and beer gardens, many interesting museums and – crowning the city – the Imperial Castle. During the summer, there are a lot of great events: The most famous are the Blaue Nacht Night of Culture, the Franconian beer festival, the Bardentreffen World Music Festival and the Old Town Festival.

Beginning in September, enticing scents drift from Nuremberg’s gingerbread bakeries, as the city begins to prepare for the highlight of its yearly calendar – the world-famous Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt. Along with its market, Christmas City Nuremberg is an absolute shopping paradise, when the streets shine with thousands of lights.

As in every city, Nuremberg is proud of its culinary specialties. Two international export hits are at home here! Nuremberg Lebkuchen are world famous and in demand. Nuts, honey and spices such as cinnamon, cloves and cardamom are the most important ingredients for our gingerbread.
The other specialty is Nuremberg bratwurst. Whether you eat them in a roll as “3 im Weggla” or on a pewter plate in an historical bratwurst kitchen – they are always delicious.

Winding half-timbered streets next to magnificent baroque buildings, vast forests next to fertile vineyards, relaxing pleasures, and lots of sports activities: in Franconia these seeming opposites simply fit together. It is precisely this diversity that characterizes the travel destination in northern Bavaria. Sixteen different vacation landscapes provide plenty of variety with delicious cuisine, beer and wine specialties, sights and a lively culture - typically Franconian.
