Amman

Capital city of Jordan, originally built on seven hills like Rome, today it stretches over a surface that covers as many 19 hills. Its original nucleus dates back to the Neolithic age. After that, several different populations inhabited the area, such as the Ammonites, Assyrians, Persians, Greeks and Romans.

Today the city shows up as split in an old eastern part including the remains of the Roman amphitheatre, the suq and other old buildings, and a modern western part with skyscrapers, pubs, discos and big shopping malls.

The city is also home to the royal Palace, where the royal Jordan family lives. Monarchy guarantees the stability of the country. Thnaks to such stability, the mild climate and its many beauties, Jordan has become a popular tourist destination.

In Jordan you can find for instance Petra, the archeological site, a Nabataean capital city dating back to 300 b.C. built within a tight valley spotted with tombs, temples and monuments dug in pink sandstone walls. A gem for the archeology enthusiasts.

Not only. For the SPAs and relax aficionados, Jordan offers various wellness centres on the Dead Sea shores, a hypersaline lake whose muds and waters are employed in health and beauty therapies.
Jordan also touches the Red Sea waters, where many tourist sea destinations are found and where it is possible to practice water sports and visit the coral reef throughout the year.
