Wi-Fi Tracking

Towards an ever-smarter airport: this is Bologna Airport's goal with Wi-Fi tracking.

The system uses state-of-the-art systems to determine, in an anonymous manner, passenger movements, crowds and queues at check-in counters, security checkpoints or other areas of the terminal, representing them in heat maps.

The service, which is already in operation but is being further enhanced, makes it possible to monitor the presence of passengers at the airport and optimise the space available, on the basis of people's movements and points of interest detected.

The tracking system also provides data on waiting times at security checkpoints, data made available in real time on the website and airport app.
