Once the lockdown phase is over, the activities of the Bologna Airport are gradually normalizing with the airlines that restore the connections. Passenger Terminal is currently open every day from 4.00 a.m. to the departure of the last flight in the evening.
Bologna Airport is open in accordance with the provisions of the authorities in order to guarantee an essential public service, which is to ensure that those who absolutely must travel can do so, with scheduled flights, ambulance flights or military flights and for the transport of goods, with cargo flights. Medical equipment and supplies arrived and are still arriving to Bologna to help combat the impact of the global pandemic.

Why has Bologna airport always been open?
Our airport has always been open on a scaled down basis as we help with the repatriation of Italian citizens and to allow those who have an unwavering need to travel, to be able to do so. During the whole emergency and the various lockdown phases that followed, ambulance and organ transport flights and the transport of medical supplies with cargo flights were always guaranteed. Equipment and supplies of sanitary materials have arrived and are still arriving in Bologna, to help fight the impact of the global pandemic.COVID-19
What social distancing and precautionary measures are in place at Bologna airport?
The measures Italian authorities have put in place to respond to Coronavirus include enhanced monitoring procedures for flights, with temperature controls with latest generation thermal scanners positioned at the entrances of the passenger terminal, at security checks and at arrivals and with laser thermometers, the presence of additional airport officials, the intensive airport areas sanitation, the positioning of disinfectant hand sanitizer along the entire passenger journey and in all areas dedicated to airport staff. In detail, the following were positioned:
- 2,250 stickers on the ground to facilitate spacing;
- 950 spacer sheets on the seats;
- 10 latest generation thermal scanners positioned at the entrances of the passenger terminal, at security checks and at arrivals.;
- 93 plexiglass barriers at check-ins and boarding gates;
- 100 dispensers of hand sanitizing liquid throughout the passengers' journey and in areas dedicated to airport staff.
Moreover, intensive sanitization of areas is active for which an innovative method of sanitization with molecular fragmentation, has also been adopted.
Last but not leastIn addition, we have implemented signage and voice announcements, social and website information content to remind passengers recommendation about social distance and good practices as to wash frequently their hands.
Airport staff are always present at the terminal to provide reply to all the information requests, thanks to the constant monitoring of the information point.
Bologna Airport is working to ensure that passengers can reach their destination as quickly and safely as possible and at the same time is guaranteeing its airport staff to operate safely.

Is the use of the mask mandatory at the airport?
Yes, in line with the new regional law of the Emilia-Romagna Region, the use of the mask in all places open to the public is mandatory, therefore the use of the mask is also mandatory inside the passenger terminal.
We strongly advise passengers to follow the indications of the Italian Government on the website and the indications of the Airline you are traveling with.

I accompany a passenger or I pick it up, can I enter the passenger terminal?
The entrance in the passenger terminal is also allowed for meeters and greeters of departing passengers, but the access will be suspended in case of overcrowding inside the terminal. On the contrary Meeters and greeters of arriving passengers must remain outside the terminal where special waiting areas have been set up. There are always exceptions for those accompanying certain specific categories such as passengers with reduced mobility or minors traveling alone. Are there temperature checks in place at Bologna Airport?
Yes, passenger body temperature checks have been active since the start of the emergency, first through the use of laser thermometers and then with the installation of 10 new thermoscanners at all entrances of the passenger terminal, at departures and arrivals. Thermoscanners at Bologna Airport are new generation devices that allow temperature measurement continuously and quickly without stopping the flow of passengers.
New thermoscanners will be installed shortly at the entrances of the passenger terminal.

Which procedures are in place to help protect passengers and airport staff?
Protecting passengers and airport staff is Bologna Airport’s number one priority. Bologna Airport continues to follow the medical, clinically driven, advice from Public Health Authorities. These are the measures that have been put in place:
- Temperature measurement of departing and arriving passengers with 10 latest generation thermoscanners;
- dedicated staff to support monitoring activities and social distancing;
- a public information campaign, including signage across all areas of our terminal.
Bologna Airport has put in place a number of measures to help support you passengers and airport operator staff including:
- The provision of n° 100 hand sanitiser dispensers in all areas of the terminal and in the restrooms;
- intensive cleaning and disinfection of the terminal areas and offices several times a day with innovative molecular fragmentation sanitation systems that have been added to the deep sanitation activities already active since the beginning of the emergency;
- 93 plexiglass separator panels installed at check-ins and boarding gates;
- protective devices - protective gloves and masks - for who perform front-line services for passengers.
Which cleaning measures has Bologna Airport put in place to respond to Coronavirus?
Bologna Airport has enhanced its already thorough intensive cleaning and disinfection processes in response to the issue, including more frequent cleaning services scheduled and the provision of hand sanitiser dispenser locations across the airport, for both passengers and staff. Where can I find the hand soap and the dispensers with the sanitizer?
Toilets are continuously monitored so that the soap does not run out, and 100 hand sanitising liquid dispensers have been installed close to all toilets and in all areas of the passenger terminal. In addition, these dispensers have been installed in all staff areas. In spite of this, some dispensers, due to the high frequency of use, may remain empty, so we ask you, if you detect such a situation, to report it to us so that we can take care of it.COVID-19
What are the shops, restaurants and other services available at Bologna Airport?
Before the security checks, the following are open: the pharmacy, the Carrefour Express supermarket, the Puro Gusto coffee bar, Vecchia Malga pizzeria, Ice cream “Cremé” shop, Kiko cosmetics shop and some car rental companies on the ground floor of the termina; the La Ghiotta coffee bar and the ATM on the first floor of the terminal, also this before security checks.

Should I arrive to the airport earlier than usual?
To guarantee compliance with the above mentioned health measures, boarding times may be longer than expected: we therefore kindly invite all passengers to turn up at least 2 hours ahead of the departure time and anyway follow the airline’s instructions.
Access to the boarding area is however allowed only to passengers whose flight is departing in the following 150 minutes.COVID-19
I am a passenger with reduced mobility, can I still receive assistance at the Airport?
Yes, sure, Bologna Airport has always guaranteed and still guarantees assistance for passengers with reduced mobility, but you must book the service through the airline with which you are travelling at least 48 hours before the departure of your flight.COVID-19
Are there special security measures to help the passengers most at risk?
The wellbeing and health of passengers and airport staff is the priority at Bologna Airport. Our staff dedicated to special assistance are always available to passengers with reduced mobility problems (PRM).
The wheelchairs used for the transport of passengers with reduced mobility are sanitized at every assistance change and is in place intensive sanitization of the special elevators for the transport of passengers on board. To reduce as much as possible the inconvenience to customers who were unable to pick up their car from our car parks on the scheduled date due to the travel blockade, Bologna Airport will not charge any additional cost compared to the one due for the scheduled parking.
Regardless of the car park used, we invite you, before collecting the car, to go to the “Presidio Parcheggi”, the office located at the ground floor of the P2 multi-storey park. Are the airport car parks still open and bookable?
At Bologna airport at the moment, all car parks are open and bookable with the exception of P4 only and the service is guaranteed 24 hours a day. What are the access doors to the passenger terminal?

- the Maine Entrance;

Yes, the entrance and permanence in the passenger terminal is always allowed for accompanying passengers of passengers with reduced mobility until the dedicated staff take charge of the departing passenger.
