With airberlin and Alitalia the world is getting closer to Bologna
Starting from the 2nd May 2016, airberlin will operate its first service from Bologna to Dusseldorf. The three daily flights offer travelers from Bologna a frequent travel option to the capital of the important economic region North-Rhine Westphalia. Furthermore, 24 destinations within Germany, Europe and worldwide are reachable with only one stop and convenient connection times. The new flights are integrated into the codeshare agreement with Alitalia.
Susanna Sciacovelli, VP International Sales at airberlin said during the press briefing at Bologna Airport: “Italy is one of the most strategic makets for airberlin and Bologna with its significant business sector is a valuable addition to our route portfolio. We look forward to welcoming travelers from Bologna on board our flights to Dusseldorf and beyond – for example to the US and the Caribbean. Furthermore, we offer international travelers coming to Italy a frequent flight option to Bologna. Our goal is to continuously improve our network between Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Together with our partner Alitalia, we have steadily increased the number of joint codeshare guests. “We are extremely satisfied – said Antonello Bonolis, Bologna Airport Aviation Business & Corporate Communication Director – with the start-up of the connection Bologna – Dusseldorf. airberlin is a dynamic and competitive airline, capable of catching new business opportunities. Through Dusseldorf, a new range of highly potential markets will open for Bologna Airport’s catchment area. I am mainly referring to the excellent connections to North America and the Caribbean area which will offer our territory top-level service and a wide range of destinations, both for business and leisure passengers”.
"The new Bologna-Dusseldorf flight operated by airberlin strengthens the codeshare agreement with Alitalia on Italy-Germany services and helps to increase the number of destinations served from Bologna which is a key airport in Alitalia development plan, too" said Nicola Bonacchi, Vice President Italy Sales Italy at Alitalia. "This summer Alitalia will start direct flights from Bologna’s Marconi airport to Catania, Lamezia Terme and Reggio Calabria thus making easier travels to the South of Italy.
