  • LIQUIDS UP TO 2 LITERS ALLOWED IN CARRY-ON LUGGAGE FOR PASSENGERS DEPARTING FROM MARCONI AIRPORT

Starting today, July 28, in compliance with the new ECAC (European Civil Aviation Authority) regulations and with the green light from ENAC, thanks to the new "EDS C3" X-ray machines installed at Bologna Airport for several months, all passengers departing from Marconi Airport are permitted to carry liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) in containers of up to 2 liters per container, leaving them in their carry-on luggage. This eliminates the previous limit of 100 ml per container, for a maximum of 10 containers in transparent plastic bags that must be presented separately.

Bologna Airport is one of five airports in Italy that allow the application of the new regulation. For all other airports, the 100 ml per container limit remains in place.

DECARBONIZATION: BOLOGNA AIRPORT FINANCES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PROJECTS IN KENIA, PERU AND INDONESIA

04/05/2022

The commitment of Bologna Airport on the issues of sustainable development and reduction of the environmental impact does not stop.

During 2021, the company reduced its total CO2 emissions by 5% compared to 2019 (last year pre-Covid) and offset 100% of the emissions generated directly and indirectly at the airport through the purchase of "carbon credits". The "carbon credit" is a negotiable stock, or a certificate equivalent to one ton of CO2 not emitted or absorbed through the financing of an environmental protection project created with the aim of reducing global emissions of greenhouse gases, responsible for global warming.

In detail, thanks to the collaboration with Shell Energy Italia, Bologna Airport offset the emission into the atmosphere of 2,579 tons of CO2 produced by the combustion of the methane gas used for the operation of the airport, through the support of green projects in Kenya, Peru and Indonesia.

Furthermore, through the technical support of CO2 Advisor, Bologna Airport offset another 2,097 tons of CO2 produced mainly by the airport's thermal plants, financing a hydroelectric energy production project in Indonesia.

The offsetting of CO2 emissions produced by the airport and the financing of corresponding decarbonisation projects continue also for 2022, as part of Marconi's adhesion to ACI Europe's commitment to "Net Zero Carbon Emissions from Airport Operations" and more articulated AdB Sustainability Plan, which includes, among the various activities, major investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
