The Museum Island in the Mitte district, historical centre of Berlin, is utterly unmissable. Five buildings, home respectively to five museums considered masterpieces for their architecture and space organization.

The Altes Museum (1830), the Neues Museum (1859), the Alte Nationalgalerie (1876), the Pergamonmuseum (1930) and the Bode Museum, the best known one, hosting the greatest sculpture collection in the whole world.

A walk around the Mitte quarter, thumping heart of the city rich in shops, restaurants, bars and night venues (about 700), and then head down to the Brandeburg Tor (XVIII century): Berlin’s symbol and reminder of the past segregation (the wall stood next to it), the gate used to be in “Nobody’s land”, while today it is accessible to all.
