Munich

Rich, sophisticated, high-tech. These three adjectives well describe Munich, Bavaria’s beautiful capital in the south of Germany.
In the car-free historical city centre, one can admire Marienplatz with its old markets, the town halls and the Gothic churches. Also unmissable are the three art galleries and the Deutsches Museum.

The new town hall, Neue Rathaus, is the symbolic building of the city. Realised in the XIX century in Neo-gothic style, following the project by Georg von Hauberrisser, it is characterised by a clock tower containing one of the largest carillons in the world, the Glockenspiel.

Another pearl is the ‘Cathedral of Our Dear Lady’, the Frauenkirche, with its twin towers, built in Gothic style between 1468 and 1488.
Or consider indulging in a walk in the English Garden, one of the largest green spots in Europe.
And again, do not miss the Residenz, the former royal residence of the monarchs and government headquarter, within which are housed various remarkable museums.
Here it is possible to admire the works by Dürer, Rubens, Raphael, Cézanne and Van Gogh, just to mention a few.
