Cagliari

The city is an ideal place to reach the well-known touristic seaside resorts at the south of Sardinia.
Built on a hill receding towards the sea, it offers many interesting historical stopovers like the Castello district, the Bastion of St. Rémy, and the Roman amphitheatre.

Near Cagliari are also places like Villasimius, Costa Rei, Domusdemaria, Castiadas, possessing the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia, with wide sandy shores.
The very city itself boasts a wonderful seashores, over 4 miles of white sand accessible from the city centre in a few minutes.

The heart of the historical Cagliari is represented by the Castello district, a labyrinth of small streets climbing up til the top of a chalky hill.
Founded in the XIII century by the Pisa inhabitants, it is sorrounded by walls, breathtaking towers and bastions, most of which can be visited. Among them, the Bastion of Saint Rémy definitely stands out, offering a marvellous observation terrace on the whole city, including sea view.
Another treat is the Roman amphitheatre, built between the I and the II century AD.
