Catania

Dazzling Sicilian Baroque city, inscribed among the Unesco World Heritage sites. Founded in 729 b.C. by the Chalcis colonists and rebuilt several times on the same site, it offers unforgettable views at the shadow of Mt. Etna.
Historical and artistic heart of the city is the Piazza Duomo, with its magnificent Elephant’s Palace (or Municipal Palace) and Palazzo dei Chierici.
Also St. Agatha’s Church faces the square, patron saint of the city, while at its centre you will find the famous obelisk with the small elephant, symbol of the city.
In the Piazza Duomo three streets merge: Via Etnea, Via Giuseppe Garibaldi and Via Vittorio Emanuele II, thumping hearts of the Catanese day and nightlife.

Other unmissable spots are: Ursino Castle, founded by Federico II of Swabia in the XIII century and the Greek Roman theatre, situated in the historical city centre.

A nature and trekking passionate won’t possibly miss a tour on Mount Etna and homonymous Nature Park. The still active volcano, offers itineraries with different difficulty levels.
