Podgorica

Podgorica, capital city of Montenegro located in the southern part of the country, has seen its tourist relevance grow over the past few years also thanks to its proximity to the Lake Skadar National Park. Considered as one of the unmissable spots in the Balkan region for nature lovers thanks to the lush vegetation, the beautiful lake shores, the medieval churches, the boat trips and the walkways for hikers, the Park is one of the Balkan gems.
If you're into birdwatching, be aware that in this heavenly corner it is possible to come across the Dalmatian pelican, the most impressive in its species.

Podgorica has the allure of the communities touched by rivers: there are up to six. From the ancient Ottoman legacy down to the ultramodern structures, Podgorica boasts plenty of styles.
The old City Clock Tower, built by the Turks in the XVII century, dominates the city centre from up high, as well as the Osmanagica Mosque and the Ribnica Fortress represent valuable examples of the urban Ottoman architecture.

A dive into modern times is granted by the Millenium Bridge on Morača river, consisting of a single span and a big obelisk from which the supporting steel rods stem, the bridge looks like a stringed instrument similar to a harp stretching towards the sky.
In sharp contrast with another city bridge: the stone bridge on the Ribnica river dating back to the XV century. A romantic place, much loved by the tourists and inhabitants of Podgorica as well as an inspiration for many artists from Montenegro.
