Cluj-Napoca

Former capital of Transylvania, it is a well-known cultural centre and economic focus of the North-western part of Romania.
For those who love religious architecture, it is compulsory to visit St. Michael’s cathedral.
In Gothic style, with three naves of the same height, it was built in 1487.
Of great worth is also the Franciscan church, in late Roman art, built between 1260 and 1290 on the ruins of a pre-existing church ravaged during the Tartarian invasions.

As for the non-religiuos buildings, Bànffy Palace, hosting the National Art Museum, is worth a visit.
Built between 1774 and 1785 in Baroque style, it is considered one of the most beautiful in Transylvania.

If you wish to dive into the culture of these sites, you can’t possibly miss a tour inside the Ethnographic Museum of the city.
The museum houses a collection of marvellous traditional costumes, as well as objects of more or less common usage reflecting the history of the native populations.
