Corfù

The island of Corfu, opposite the north-western coast of Greece, in the Ionian sea, represents a multifaceted gem reflecting the passages of various populations on this territory over the centuries, under the Venetian, French and English governments before the island became of Greek dominion in 1864.
The most relevant inherited treasure of this beautiful island, situated a few miles off the Greek, Italian and Albanian coasts, comes from Italy, though, dating back to the Venetian Republic's sovereignty: the style of the buildings, squares, castles and fortresses located in the main city.
Amidst narrow medieval lanes, porticos and majestic buildings such as St. Michael and St. George's, it is possible to live through the historical stages of this land. In fact, the city centre of Corfu has been Unesco world heritage since 2007.

The island, partly covered in rough cliffs, is surrounded by an astonishing coastline boasting all kinds of beaches. From coloured pebbles to the finest sands showing all possible hues of colours, and through the best equipped beach resorts as well as the wildest ones, reserved for nudists.
All beaches share the same wonder: a transparent sea ranging from the green to the blue shade.

A mild and rainy weather during the low season makes Corfu an extremely lush country. Along with tourism, the olive tree cultivation provides most of the country's income.

It is such eclecticism that makes this island a loved tourist destination for many all over the world every year.
