DanubeWings, the Slovakian regional airline, inaugurates a new flight linking Bologna’s Guglielmo Marconi International Airport to Crotone’s S. Anna Airport on Friday 26 June. The flight operates every Friday and Sunday departing from Bologna Airport at 16:30 hours and arriving in Crotone at 18:30; the return flight leaves Crotone at 19:00 and lands in Bologna at 20:45. The launch cost for one-way travel is 55 euros, including taxes, luggage and catering.

Moreover, thanks to the opening of this new route, it will be possible to reach Slovakia from Crotone, via Bologna. Since 1 April 2009, in fact, DanubeWings has inaugurated 3 scheduled flights a week from Bologna to Bratislava, the capital, to Poprad/Tarty and continuing to Kosice. The flights, which depart every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, are run on a 70-passenger ATR72. The route will continue operating until October 2009.

DanubeWings is a company which belongs to Vip Wings, an executive company with ten year’s experience. DanubeWings began flying on 20 August 2008. During 2008, the company carried 4,630 passengers, with a grand total of 11,212 from January to May 2009. The company is currently operating over 40 scheduled and charter flights a week. The scheduled flights concern the cities of Bratislava, Bologna, Crotone, Poprad/Tatry, Kosice, Basel/Mulhouse/Fribourg, Rjieka (Fiume) Zara and Spalato, while the charter flight destinations are Mahon (Minorca), Ancona, Lamezia Terme, Palermo, Corfu, Thessaloniki, Palma di Majorca and Warsaw. The airline, which currently has 120 employees, operates with three 70-passenger ATR72s, with 2 more ATR72s scheduled to complete the fleet by 2011.

DanubeWings has engaged Air Partner s.r.l., a company which operates in the sector of commercial flight brokerage and has a fleet of private jets available for rental, as its representative in Italy, nominating it General Sales Agent in the peninsula.

Alessio Altamura, Country Manager of Air Partner in Italy, informs use that “Besides promoting the scheduled flights of DanubeWings in the tour operating network, travel agencies and MICE, Air Partner, will also charter aircraft to order. And the company does in fact propose highly competitive rates. DanubeWings is a regional airline offering an in-flight service characterised by high quality and close attention to passengers. For example, the in-flight snack served is included in the cost of the flight ticket. The company is very attentive to the environmental impact, purposely choosing the ATR72, made in Europe thanks to an agreement between Italy and France. This aircraft is powered by turbo-propellers with low CO2 emissions, offering good levels of passenger comfort.  As far as bookings are concerned, success has been achieved on the route from Bologna to Bratislava, a historical city about fifty kilometres from Vienna and therefore extremely appealing in terms of cost and quality of service for those wishing to visit the Austrian capital.”

We are very happy – says Antonello Bonolis, Head of Traffic Development for Bologna Airport – with DanubeWings’ decision to increase its presence at Bologna with the activation of a flight to Crotone. The Calabrese community in the Emilia region is very important and we are sure that this proposal will attract considerable interest. With this flight, the number of Italian destinations that can be reached from ‘Marconi’ rises to 12, with over 90 destinations in 34 countries throughout the world. This further strengthens the range of flights offered from Bologna, with ‘Marconi’ airport already among the top Italian airports in terms of connectivity”.

Air Partner has more than 20 offices in the main financial centres of 15 countries, from Europe to America, from the Middle East to Asia. It’s Italian headquarters is in Milan. Air Partner is the company chosen by numerous heads of state and the only company to hold the Royal Seal for the supply of flights to the British Royal Family.
