Next summer, airberlin will introduce a new Italian destination: Bologna. Starting from the 2nd May 2016, in fact, airberlin will operate its first service from Dusseldorf to Bologna and will then offer this connection three times a day. Moreover, confirming its strong focus on Italy, the airline increases the existing services from Dusseldorf to Venice and Florence from one to three flights a day as of May 2016. The flights will be shortly integrated into the existing codeshare agreement with Alitalia.
The airline is going to consolidate its presence at both the Berlin and Dusseldorf hubs as it continues to extend its market leadership at these airports. In the upcoming summer season, the flights from Italy will have even better links to both hubs, with several connection options for medium and long haul flights within the airberlin network.
"We want to strengthen our competitiveness in Europe with new destination and additional services on major routes. This is the only way to keep ahead of the game, particularly in the important business travel segment. We are clearly focusing on Italy, where we plan to expand our services together with our partner, Alitalia. Our hubs Berlin and Dusseldorf are in the centre of our new network strategy and along with that the improvement of the integration of our flights at both of these. This will enable us to offer our passengers improved connections particularly to our long-haul flights", said Stefan Pichler, Chief Executive Officer of airberlin.
In fact, airberlin passengers from Italy will be able to reach the new long haul destinations San Francisco, Dallas, Boston and Havana, which will be operated from Dusseldorf as of the beginning of May. Furthermore, the existing long haul routes to New York, Miami, Fort Myers, Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi as well as to Varadero, Punta Cana and Puerto Plata in the Caribbean are very well connected with flights from Italy.
All the flights are already available for booking at airberlin.com, via travel agents or by calling the Service Centre on 199 400 737 (0,10 EUR/min).
